DEADLINE: OCTOBER 28, 2017 at 11:59 pm
Partnership for Global Security accepts internship applications on a rolling basis. PGS is always looking for new interns to assist with research tasks, media outreach, innovative content creation, and production of our weekly news digest publication Nuclear News. Generally, we hire interns for the spring, summer, and fall semesters.
PGS interns primarily research nuclear security, nuclear energy, and transnational governance challenges. Current research projects that interns will support include: tracking the evolution of nuclear security policies and governance structures; understanding the growth of nuclear energy in the Middle East and East Asia; exploring the nexus of climate change, nuclear power growth; global security; using existing voluntary frameworks as a model for nuclear security governance structures; monitoring nuclear security and nonproliferation funding; and working with coalition partners to influence the outcomes of the 2016 Nuclear Security Summit.
PGS is utilizing new and social media in an attempt to raise awareness and interest of these issues in the general public, and to continue influencing policy makers and leaders. Subsequently, successful candidates will also ideally have an interest in communications and advocacy, and the ability to work effectively with social and traditional media platforms, in addition to their interest or background in the issues of nuclear nonproliferation, security and transnational governance.
Interns will both help to manage PGS’ Nuclear News publication and other media. The Nuclear News is a weekly newsletter that aggregates articles about nuclear security, cooperation, energy, and industry issues from international, lesser-known sources. It is a resource for those who need deeper knowledge about global nuclear developments than is regularly available from most mainstream outlets. PGS also communicates with its list-serv members by sending Policy Updates and Press Releases with links to published reports and updates on legislation and maintains a Twitter feed.
