DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 6, 2017 at 11:59 pm
At CARE, we seek a world of hope, tolerance and social justice, where poverty has been overcome and people live with dignity and security.
This has been our vision since 1945, when we were founded to send lifesaving CARE Packages® to survivors of World War II. Today, CARE is a global leader in the movement to eradicate poverty. In 2015, CARE worked in 95 countries and reached 65 million people with an incredible range of life-saving programs. We also put women and girls at the center of our work because we know that we cannot overcome poverty until all people have equal rights and opportunities. We seek dynamic, innovative thinkers to further our mission. If you share our core beliefs: poverty is an injustice; poverty is solvable; and together, we have the power to end it, join us.
CARE’s flagship program on Sexual and Reproductive Health in Emergencies (SRH-E), SAFPAC Initiative, aims to reduce women’s unintended pregnancies and deaths from unsafe abortion in acute emergencies and chronically crisis-affected countries. In line with CAREs commitment to the needs and rights of women and girls, SAFPAC integrates essential sexual and reproductive health services into new and ongoing humanitarian emergencies, emphasizing access to family planning and post-abortion care.
As part of its focus on improving access to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) around the world in line with CARE’s Global Strategy for 2020, the CARE SRHR Global Team is working to build momentum around SRHR across the organization, especially in the regional and country offices. To support this effort, the SRHR Global Team has been working to build the Sexual and Reproductive Health in Emergencies (SRH-E) readiness and capacity in ten countries in Asia (Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, India, Cambodia, Myanmar, Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand). To build upon these efforts, the intern will work with the Global SRHR team to assist in creating and maintaining an Asia Regional SRH-E Community of Practice and support the Global SRHR’s team capacity building efforts in this region. In addition, the intern will work to support the SRH in Emergencies team efforts to continue to strengthen CARE’s leadership role in the Inter-Agency Working Group (IAWG) on SRH in Crisis-Settings.
Specific intern responsibilities will include:
1. Asia Regional SRH-E Coordination Meetings: In order to help create a community of practice among the Asia Country Offices on SRH-E, the intern will work with team members to assist in planning and coordination of these meetings.
2. Asia SRH-E Capacity Building Efforts: Building on the momentum of the SRH-E workshop held in May, the intern will work with team members to assist in the administrative and logistical support in organizing capacity building workshops in Asia.
3. IAWG-related efforts on capacity building and finalizing curriculum: The intern will continue to build on previous efforts to help coordinate and package CARE’s training curriculum on Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptives and finalizing resource mobilization efforts for capacity building opportunities with IAWG partners.
The intern should also maintain an excel workbook with high-level information and analyses/notes that could be searched/reviewed by members of the team.
The intern will be expected to produce the following deliverables:
1. A summative report on the goals and objectives, process for launching and lessons learned from maintaining a Community of Practice for SRH-E in Asia
2. Final training curriculum on Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptives for frontline health workers in crisis-settings.
