Position Purpose
The Intern will perform many of the responsibilities of a Program Specialist in support of the Asia/Eurasia portfolio. The Intern will learn Pact’s program management and knowledge management systems and will interact daily with colleagues in country offices and DC-based departments. The Intern will work closely within the AEA portfolio in a team approach, and will be asked to perform discrete tasks.

  • This is a part-time (20 – 30 hours per week), temporary position for 4 months.
  • This is an unpaid position and only students currently participating in a university-sponsored work study or fellowship will be eligible.

Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Regional Director, the AEA Program Delivery Intern’s responsibilities may include:

  • Assist with country strategies, including desk review of sector needs, stakeholder analysis, and review and editing of the strategy document;
  • Following up with relevant HQ departments on requests from Country Offices;
  • Review and update Country Office communications materials;
  • Track donor deliverables, and review and edit donor reports;
  • Track project startups and closeouts and address issues and questions;
  • Review project financial reports and budgets for discussion with country offices;
  • Write and/or update Past Performance References for active and ended projects;
  • Maintain internal knowledge management systems and update webpage content;
  • Participate in team and departmental meetings and initiatives;
  • Other tasks as they arise.

Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in international development, regional studies, program management or related field or equivalent experience required;
  • Self-starter and independent worker who can also work well as a team member;
  • Excellent verbal and written cross-cultural communication skills;
  • Strong computer skills: proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets and database skills;
  • Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks;
  • Strong interest in international development;
  • English fluency.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s or progress towards a higher degree in international development, regional studies, program management or related field or equivalent experience;
  • Experience in a developing country context strong preferred.
