Job Opportunity: PISA Staff Assistant (Part-Time, Federal Work Study Award Required)

About PISA:

Partnerships for International Strategies in Asia (PISA), is a program housed within the Sigur Center for Asian Studies of the Elliott School of International Affairs, The George Washington University.  Since 1984, PISA has worked with partner organizations in Asia to enhance capacity at the national and regional levels to address emerging concerns in the Asia-Pacific region.  Working with our network of global experts, PISA offers issue specific programs with particular emphasis on transnational priorities.  PISA programs critically explore challenges in international affairs and how communities, particularly vulnerable communities, are affected by and can prepare for these challenges.  Since 2007, PISA’s work has focused on climate change with special emphasis on developing leadership on this issue within the region.

Position Description:

The Staff Assistant position is located within the Sigur Center for Asian Studies at the Elliott School of International Affairs. The holder of this position is responsible for assisting PISA staff with all administrative and logistical aspects of PISA programing. Duties include updating the website; managing PISA’s social media platforms; assisting with the scheduling and execution of short-courses, event set up, tear down, photography, and other logistics; researching grant opportunities; as well as other duties that may be required to support PISA’s mission. This is a great opportunity for students interested in Asian Studies, International Affairs, Climate Change  Policy, or International development to work closely with PISA staff on cutting edge programs that address  critical issues affecting the Asia-Pacific region.

  • Approximate Hours per Week: 10-15 
  • Hourly Wage: $10/hour
  • Federal Work Study Award Required
  • Must be a student at The George Washington University 
Qualifications: 

  • Interest in/knowledge of International Affairs, Asia, International Development, and Climate Change
  • Interest in and understanding of Asian cultures
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Events, communications, and/or administrative experience
  • Experience with web management and using social media tools for outreach purposes
  • Must possess a Federal Work Study Award for the 2013-2014 academic year

    Is this an internship for Fall or Spring 2014 semester?

  2. This is not an internship, it is a part-time, paid position. We are currently hiring for the Fall semester, with the possibility of working through the end of the Spring semester.
