Headquartered in Washington, D.C., and with regional offices in South Asia and Africa, ICRW provides evidence-based research to inform policies and programs that alleviate poverty, promote gender equality and protect the rights of women and girls. Corporations, foundations, governments and civil society organizations partner with ICRW to discover through rigorous research how to dismantle barriers and help women and girls achieve their full potential. ICRW’s focus areas include adolescent girls, agriculture and food security, economic empowerment, HIV and AIDS, population and reproductive health, gender-based and intimate partner violence.

At ICRW, we believe that research can and should be a process of social development, and employ participatory methods whenever appropriate. Further, ICRW pursues intersectional research to the greatest extent possible when resources allow. All research we undertake serves to advance ICRW’s mission of improving the status of women and girls, promoting gender equality and eradicating poverty. 
 
Overview:
 
This is an approximately 3-6 month unpaid internship working with the Director of Human Resources and the Human Resources Generalist. The intern will be mentored and trained in providing human resources services and assisting in the implementation of HR initiatives. These activities may include the following:  

Primary Duties:
  
Recruitment and Onboarding 
Working on job postings, sorting and reviewing applicants, and setting-up and participating in the interview process. Assisting in drafting offer letters and creating new hire packets for potential new employees/interns.

Files/Record Retention
Working on personnel and benefits file management, ensuring best practices are adhered to. Assisting in updating position descriptions.

Training and Development
Assisting in new hire orientation training programs for the DC office. 
 
Benefit and Compensation Competitive Analysis
If requested, participate in compensation and benefit surveys.  The intern will be mentored in gathering data and performing analysis in determining the market competitiveness of salaries and benefits.
 
Performance Management
Participate in the planning, implementation and monitoring of the upcoming performance management system through ReviewSnap our online performance review system.
 
Benefits
Participate in the research and implementation of new ancillary benefits and wellness programs. 

Employee Relations
Planning and participating in activities that help to foster employee morale.
 
HR Projects
Researching and collecting data for various HR initiatives.

We are flexible regarding days/hours, as well as start and end dates, but prefer at least 2 -3 onsite days per week.
