Function:
This position provides administrative and programmatic support to the BA
and MA Asian Studies academic programs; Partnerships for International
Strategies in Asia (PISA); and the Sigur
Center for Asian Studies at George Washington University. In particular,
this position involves academic scheduling, event and seminar planning,
budgeting, student advising, making travel arrangements, and managing
social media and communications tools.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associates degree, or higher, plus 0-2 years of relevant experience.
Degree requirements may be substituted for a combination of education,
training and experience.
Desired Qualifications:
• Knowledge of a modern Asian language
• Demonstrated experience and interest in Asia and international affairs
• Excellent writing, editing, and public presentation skills
• Experience using social media tools (Twitter, Facebook, and blogs) for outreach, targeted campaigns, and fund-raising
• Prior professional experience in either project or program management
• Experience with marketing, outreach, and academic recruiting
• Experience with website design and management
• Cross-cultural experience and/or working in an international environment
• Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple tasks while meeting multiple deadlines
• Familiarity with word processing, database management, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Ability to work with little supervision, but also teamwork skills

Responsibility:
1. Coordinates the overall management of the Sigur Center for Asian Studies including finance and personnel oversight. This includes hiring and supervising support staff. Responsible for financial management of the Center to include processing reimbursements, grants, contracts, invoices and assisting the Director with formulation and oversight of budget.
2. Oversees all aspects of Center grants and sponsored research life cycle. This includes proposal submission, award management, budget tracking, and close-out.
3. Functional and administrative supervision is exercised over 2-4 full-time staff members and approximately 5 part-time student employees. Specifically, the Operations Manager supervises the Center’s full-time Program Coordinator and Program Assistant as well as the Rising Powers Initiative’s Research Manager.
4. Part-time staff supervised includes 3 Staff Assistants, 1 Finance Assistant, and 1 Communications and Events Assistant.
5. Reviews projects to ensure compliance with federal regulations, Department/School/University guidelines, and sponsor requirements.
6. Special projects as assigned by the Director.Performs other work related duties as assigned.

About PISA:
Partnerships for International Strategies in Asia (PISA),
is a program housed within the Sigur Center for Asian Studies of the Elliott
School of International Affairs, The George Washington University. Since 1984, PISA has worked with partner
organizations in Asia to enhance capacity at the national and regional levels
to address emerging concerns in the Asia-Pacific region. Working with our network of global experts,
PISA offers issue-specific programs with particular emphasis on transnational
priorities. PISA programs critically
explore challenges in international affairs and how communities, particularly
vulnerable communities, are affected by and can prepare for these
challenges. Since 2007, PISA’s work has
focused on climate change with special emphasis on developing leadership on
this issue within the region.
Position Description:

The Taiwan Fellowship was established by the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to encourage experts
and scholars worldwide to conduct research in Taiwan’s universities or research
institutions, thereby promoting international partnerships and mutual
understanding.
Eligibility:
A. foreign nationals who are professors, associate
professors, assistant professors, post-doctoral researchers, doctoral
candidates, or doctoral program students at related departments of overseas universities,
or are research fellows at an equivalent level in academic institutions abroad;

Position summary:

Senior linguist role supporting a US
