Keio Academy of New York Seeks Undergraduate and Graduate Student Paid Interns for “US-Japan Summer Cultural Experience 2012”
Qualifications
* Excellent command of English language
* A good team player in a multi-cultural setting
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced program environment
* [For Non-native speakers of Japanese] At least two years of college-level Japanese language or cultural studies strongly preferred
* An undergraduate or a graduate student in Education, International Studies, Intercultural Communication, or related major preferred
* Willing to engage in the off duties recreational activities with participants
* Willing to learn operational and administrative undertakings of a residential educational institution
* Experience in working with youth and/or experience in living/studying/working in another country in a cross-cultural environment preferred
* Prior high school or college dorm experience is a plus
* Media arts or digital technology related experience helpful
All Positions will
* Work under direct supervision of the Program Director, and at times with the Administrative Director
* Ensure program participants’ health, safety, hygiene, discipline, group dynamics and social adjustment and look out for early signs of a serious problem or danger and refer them to Program Director or an appropriate staff
* Assist program staff with guiding the participants through a daily schedule of activities
* Assist administrative tasks as assigned
* If bilingual, be an interpreter for the participants, their parents, DCTV staff, and other staff members as needed.

Elliot School Launches New Exchange Program with Singapore's Nanyang Technological University, Home of the S. Rajaratnam School of Intl. Studies
Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is one of the most prestigious academic institutions in Asia. The NTU S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) was established in 2006 as an autonomous graduate institution of NTU, with the renowned Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies as a key component.
RSIS is a community of scholars and policy analysts at the forefront of Asia-Pacific security studies and international affairs. Its three core functions are research, graduate teaching and networking activities in the Asia-Pacific region. It produces cutting-edge security related research in Asia-Pacific Security, Conflict and Non-Traditional Security, International Political Economy, and Country and Area Studies. RSIS offers coursework in International Relations, International Political Economy, Asian Studies, and Strategic Studies.
Curriculum: Elliott School graduate students can enroll in courses within the NTU S Rajaratnam School of International Studies.
This program offers courses such as:

- Non-traditional Security and Global Governance
- Accounting for Decision-making and Control
- Regional Integration in the World Economy

Transfer of Credit: Students must earn the equivalent of a B grade or higher in a given course to be eligible for transfer credit. Students may earn up to 10 transfer credits from the partner for the Elliott School M.A. program.

Job Opportunity at the Sigur Center: Program Coordinator
The Program Coordinator plays an integral role in the programming of the Sigur Center for Asian Studies. The incumbent oversees the Center’s 60+ annual events in addition to playing a critical role in the Center’s communications and outreach effort. This includes website management, social networking, publications, and reports. This position also coordinates the Center’s Visiting Scholars Program which includes working with Scholars and GW’s International Service Office to procure necessary visas and other paperwork. The incumbent must be self-motivated, take initiative, and be proactive to be successful in this highly independent position.
Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of appropriate experience.

Info Session on the TUSA 2012 Ambassador Summer Scholarship
The Taiwan-United States Sister Relations Alliance announces that the TUSA 2012 Ambassador Summer Scholarship Program is being offered to college and university students interested in studying the Mandarin Chinese language in Taiwan during the months of July and August 2012.
The Ambassador Summer Scholarship Program is a full scholarship program funded by the Ministry of Education in Taiwan. The 2012 Program will be conducted at National Cheng Kung University. The scholarship covers tuition, dormitory fees, four excursions and incidental insurance. Meals are not included. Students must provide their own airfare to and from Taiwan.
This unique opportunity provides a quality Mandarin Chinese immersion program with emphasis on speaking and simultaneous focus on all other areas of the language—listening, reading and writing. In addition to studying at a fabulous university, students learn about Taiwanese culture. Visiting several interesting areas of Taiwan to become more familiar with Taiwan and her people is also included in the TUSA Program. Prior knowledge or experience with the Mandarin language is not required. Each U.S. student is paired with a Taiwanese study partner to assist in the study program.
Application period is 1 January 2012 to 31 March 2012. Completed applications received prior to 15 February 2012 will be reviewed for early acceptance and reported to the applicant within seven days of that date. All remaining applications, including those not awarded early admission, will be reviewed and reported by 7 April 2012.

The Project 2049 Institute is a non-partisan security policy think tank specializing on the Asia-Pacific region. The Institute seeks to guide decision makers toward a more secure Asia by the century’s mid-point. The organization fills a gap in the public policy realm through forward-looking, region-specific research on alternative security and policy solutions. Its interdisciplinary approach draws on rigorous analysis of socioeconomic, governance, military, environmental, technological and political trends, and input from key players in the region, with an eye toward educating the public and informing policy debate.
We are looking to take on a part-time intern for the remainder of the Spring Semester. This opportunity is ideal for students interested in gaining research experience in Asia security issues. Intern responsibilities include research assistance, contributing to our blog AsiaEye, event planning and administrative support. Hours are flexible, but applicants should be able to commit to at least 15-20 hours per week. A monthly stipend commensurate with time commitment will be provided.
Qualifications:
Background in International Affairs, Asia Studies, Energy Security, or Security Policy
Great writing and copy-editing skills
Research experience
Multimedia experience a plus

The Woodenfish Project is currently offering two programs for undergrdaute and gradaute students:
Woodenfish Taiwan: HBMLP
The Humanistic Buddhism Monastic Life Program (HBMLP) is a month-long program for students and young adults at Fo Guang Shan Monastery in Taiwan. Participants live as monastics while taking academic classes on Buddhism and participating in traditional practices. The program welcomes participants from all countries, faiths and academic fields.
Woodenfish China: Buddhism in China series
Through the "Buddhism in China" series, the Woodenfish Project aims to aid the development of young scholars in the West with research interests in Chinese Buddhism and related fields by offering them the opportunity for direct, intensive academic engagement with the major historical centers of Buddhism in China.

Call for Sumission!
The Columbia East Asia Review (CEAR) is a multidisciplinary undergraduate journal of East and Southeast Asian Studies based at Columbia University. CEAR is dedicated to publishing superior undergraduate research on East and Southeast Asia while offering students the opportunity to learn about academic publishing and the peer-review process firsthand. Print and online editions are published annually in April and reach a readership that extends top universities across the United States, Europe, and Asia.
CEAR is currently accepting submissions in any discipline from undergraduate students worldwide. The deadline for submissions is February 12, 2012 but earlier submissions are welcomed.
Submissions must be written by an undergraduate or recent graduate (having graduated within one year from an undergraduate institution), exhibit original research, and relate directly to one or more regions of East or Southeast Asia.

Aspen India Summer Fellowship Now Available!
Aspen Institute India is delighted to announce the "Aspen India" - Avantha International Fellowship 2012” for the second year. It is looking for two motivated international students to come to Delhi during the summer of 2012.
Candidates should ideally be from the field of International Relations/ International Development Studies/ South Asian Studies, who want to gain broad knowledge of the world of philanthropy, social reform and development in India. Students pursuing Masters program are preferred, though applications from seniors in a Bachelors program may also be considered.
As “Fellows” the two selected candidates will learn about the social, political and economic issues facing the world’s largest democracy. In addition to international exposure and leadership experience, Fellows will gain firsthand experience on these issues, and learn from the best practices and expert minds in the field. You will also have the opportunity to actively support Aspen India in their ongoing leadership programs, outreach seminars, workshops, conferences, and other related events where applicable.
This would be two month program; the dates would be flexible and based on international university schedule.
