Student accomplishments

Nine GW students studying Asia have won prestigious national scholarships!

Undergraduate successes: Elizabeth Heller, (Chinese Language and Literature) was selected as a Princeton in Asia fellow. Two undergraduates, David Giar (International Affairs) and Sam Porter (Asian Studies), won Boren scholarships. Hedwig Waters (BA, Anthropology, 2009), won a Fulbright to do research in Mongolia. Finally, Alison Chatfield (BA, International Affairs, 2010) won a William J. Clinton Fellowship for service in Jharkhand, India.

Graduate Successes: Enze Han (Political Science PhD program) was awarded a post-doctoral fellowship for 2010-11 at the Princeton-Harvard China and the World Program, Woodrow Wilson School, Princeton University. Matthew LeDuc (MA, Anthropology) won a Fulbright for research in India. Cristina Hernandez (MA, International Affairs) won a Boren Fellowship to study Japanese. Sean Daly (MA, Asian Studies) won a Critical Language Studies fellowship from the State Department to study Korean this summer.

Sigur Center Summer Grants!

The winners of the Field Research Grant are:

Peter Chang (MA Candidate, International Affairs- Asia Concentration)

Yaqiu Wang (MA Candidate, International Affairs - Asia Concentration)
Xiaoyu Zhu (MA Candidate, International Affairs - Asia Concentration)
